Michael Lon Mills

Michael Lon Mills, born in San Diego, CA on July 30, 1935, son of the late Richard and Anna (Smith) Mills, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the age 88.
Michael graduated from Grossmont High School, California Polytechnic State University receiving a bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry, and served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church and worked in the trucking industry. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and working on his truck. He loved looking out his front window watching the cows in the pasture, and the horizon across the street.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Rodney Mills; sister; Gwendolyn Mills.
Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Frances Mills of Welsh, LA; son, Markley Mills (Jennifer) of San Diego, CA; daughters, Elaine Keys, and Tracy Waymire (Bart) both of Saulsbury, TN; daughter in-law, Sandra Mills of Sparks, NV; brother, Timothy Mills of San Diego, CA; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Memorial services will be Friday, October 27, 2023 at 11 a.m. in Roanoke Baptist Church (8306 US-90, Roanoke, LA), with Pastor Darrell Hieronymus, officiating. Burial of his cremains will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the SW LA Veterans Cemetery, Jennings, LA
Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson and Brown Funeral Home.
