Michael Rider

Mike Rider, 72, of Lake Charles died at 6:38 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2016 in his residence.

Mike was such a kind, fun loving man.  He loved to laugh and spend time with his friends and family.  Mike was always busy-running the roads-visiting with people all while listening to Elvis Presley radio.  He was the happiest when he was cooking and entertaining his friends and family.  He adored his family with a fierce passion only closely matched by his love of cooking and for his back yard.  Often you would find him in his kitchen whipping up some amazing Cajun food and enjoying his beautiful back yard.  (No one could cook quite like Mike)  He loved the game of golf and enjoyed playing many years with his son, Shannon Rider, his brother, Ron Rider, and his step son, Scott Hines at Pine Shadows Gold Course where he was owner and operator.  In his earlier years he was a barber at Image Salon.  He most recently sold Sam’s Cove and was currently owner of The Roadhouse in Basile, LA.

He will be deeply missed by his first and lifetime love, Judy Hines; their son together, Shannon Rider; as well as his grandsons, Chace Rider and Evan Savoy; his other close family includes his brother, Ron Rider; his step son, Scott Hines; and his daughter-in-law, Samantha Rider.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Carwin Rider and a sister, Susan Fontenot.

Visitation will begin on Saturday, December 3, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM noon.  Following will be a burial in Platin Cemetery in Ville Platte, LA.
