Mifanwy "Wann" Hart

Mifanwy “Wann” Brister Hart, 85, of Lake Charles, LA, was called to her eternal home on Sunday, May 16, 2021.

Mrs. Hart was born March 5, 1936 in Sieper, LA, and graduated from Oak Hill High School in Hineston, LA.  She received her Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education at Northwestern State University.  She received her Masters +30 Degree from McNeese State University.  Mrs. Hart started her teaching career at Westlake High School in 1958.  After taking some time off from teaching to begin her family, she returned to teaching 7th grade English at Moss Bluff Middle School, retiring in 1985.  She was a member of St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church.  Mrs. Hart enjoyed sewing, quilting and crafting.  Her true joy in life came from spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She will be remembered for her quick wit and personality and was loved by all she met.

Mrs. Hart is survived by her daughters, Cindy Scott (Rick) of Moss Bluff, Bobbie Gail Swan (Scott) of Houston, TX, and Karla Hunt (Stewart) of Lake Charles; son, Roger Hart (Cindy Stelly) of Denham Springs, LA; brothers, Bill Brister (Carolyn) of Dallas, TX, Dee Brister (DeAnna) of Alexandria, LA, Madison Brister of San Antonio, TX and Clayton Brister (Linda Sue) of Sieper, LA; grandchildren, Mallory Monteith (John), Randy Scott (Megan), Bryan Scott, Morgan Abels (Jacob), Mackenzie Swan (Keaton Addington), Catherine Hunt, Allison Hunt, Olivia Hart, Jackson Hart and Tyler Hart; and great-grandchildren, Caroline, Barrett, Emma Monteith and JJ Abels.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bob” Hart; parents, Houston and Era Brister; sisters, Emma Jean Avey, and Sunshine Walker.

Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church Gym.  Reverend Dr. John Robert Black will officiate.  A gathering of family members and friends will be at the church on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.

The family would like to thank Cindy and Rick Scott for her wonderful, loving care of their beloved Fanny after she moved in with them.
