Mike Spano, 56, of Lake Charles passed away Monday, September 9th, 2024 in the comfort of his home.
Michael accepted Jesus into his heart, and loved sharing the love of Jesus with others. Without doubt the first thing he saw when he opened his eyes was the face of Jesus. We take comfort as believers that when our time on earth ends, we will see Mike as we walk through the gates of Heaven.
Born on March 11th, 1968 in Lake Charles. Mike had an adventurous upbringing and was a graduate of Barbe High School. He excelled as linebacker for the football team and is a BUC for life. He also graduated from McNeese State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History. A talented salesman, he began his career selling CutCo Knives and that eventually led him to selling vehicles for Acura in Baton Rouge. After which he began working for Wyndham Hotels and Resorts in New Orleans, where he thrived in sales and management. He then worked the past few years as a top Executive Sales Director for Wyndham TimeShares in Waikiki Beach, Hawaii. He loved fishing and spending countless days on Big Lake. You could often find him having a good time on the sidelines of Barbe Football Friday night, cheering on the LSU Tigers and Saints. A very competitive person, Mike liked challenging his friends and family to rounds of Racquetball, at the Roman Health Spa. But could also beat you at another favorite of his, Top Golf. Mike always had a big love for music, he enjoyed going to concerts like Motley Crue and Steve Miller Band. Also had a love of practicing tunes on guitar. Mike's spirit is one of high energy and of occasional stubbornness, that we all know as “IronHead”. But was always big hearted, kind and could get others to bring out the best in themselves, regardless of circumstances. He could always find a way to make all his friends and family feel special and loved. Mike will be remembered for his incredibly independent thinking and his vivacious laugh. He will be greatly missed by all those who ever had the pleasure to be in his company.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Becky Ashburn Spano and father, Don Spano, both of Lake Charles; brother, Johnny Spano of Lake Charles; nephews, Marcus Spano and Colten Spano; niece, Lacy Spano; amongst many other cousins, family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Donnie Spano and grandparents, Frank Spano and Martha Ellis Spano and Dr. Karl Ashburn and Sarah Tipton Ashburn.
