Mildred Irene Harlan Abraham, age 94, passed away on December 4, 2018, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She was born on September 15, 1924 to Lucy Garrett Harlan and Eugene Harlan of New Verda, Louisiana. She graduated from Verda High School in 1941 and later attended Spencer Business College in Shreveport, Louisiana.
After graduation, she moved to Lake Charles and worked in the accounting department at Petroleum Chemicals, Inc. for many years, and there she met a young engineer named Mack Abraham.
She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, having enjoyed the group, “Women of the Church” and the Episcopal Day School activities.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandsons, Abe and Jacob, and caring for family and friends. No one ever went hungry at her house.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Mack Abraham, by her parents Lucy and Eugene Harlan, a brother Willard Harlan, and one infant grandson, Alex Reeves.
She is survived by her daughter Suzanne Abraham Reeves and husband Charles W. Reeves, Jr., and two grandsons, Abraham and Jacob Reeves.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Resurrection at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. The Very Reverend Jack Myers and Reverend Boo Kay will officiate.
The family would like to thank Bryan G. Barootes, M.D. and his wife, Patty for their infinite compassion and loving care for the Abraham family.
