Milissa "Mitzi" Kay Brooks

Iowa –Milissa “Mitzi” Kay Brooks, daughter of Henry Adam Valin and Mary RaeLynn Bernard, born June 29, 1964, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018, at the age of 53.
Mitzi was a graduate of Barbe and received her Bachelor’s Degree from McNeese State University. She was employed at Lee Dee Wholesale. She enjoyed reading, camping, fishing and island hopping in the Caribbean.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Troy Brooks; father, Henry Adam Valin and wife, Gail of Opelousas; mother, Mary RaeLynn Ortego and husband, Gene of Opelousas; sisters, Mia Yvette Martin and husband, Dickie of Opelousas and Marai Denise Valin of Waco, Texas; mother and father-in-law, Nanette and Huey Brooks of Iowa.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home ~ Iowa, with Father Roland Vaughn officiating. Visitation is Saturday in the funeral home from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home – Iowa. Per the request of family, please come in casual attire.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mitzi’s memory to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
