Minnie C. Colleps

Minnie Charlena Colleps, 81, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 2:20 AM on Monday, November 13, 2017 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Colleps was born September 9, 1936 in Dodson, LA, was a 1954 graduate of Jonesboro-Hodge High School, and has lived in the Lake Charles area for almost sixty years. She was a homemaker and mother for many years before graduating from Sowela Technical School with her degree as a LPN. Mrs. Colleps worked at St. Patrick Hospital for a many years before her retirement. She was a member of Tom Hebert Road Baptist Church and an avid supporter of CARC. She loved scrapbooking, shopping, reading, and during her later years enjoyed adult coloring books. She was loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Colleps is survived by her children, Charles David Sprayberry of Lake Charles, Rev. Susan S. Whitley and husband Rev. Mark T. Whitley of Skiatook, OK and James Jonathan Sprayberry of Lake Charles; sisters, Billie Pettifield of Moss Bluff and Ann Myers of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Bryan Whitley and wife Julie, Chris Whitley and wife Kim and Caitlin Whitley Hayes and husband Jordan; great-grandchild, Adalynn Renae Whitley; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Jimmie Sprayberry; second husband, Delmer Colleps; parents, Charles and Ethel Massey Vines; and sisters, Louise and Charlene.

Her memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Tom Hebert Road Baptist Church. Pastor Lee Whitley will officiate. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
