Miriam Louise Jackson

Miriam Louise Jackson, 64, of Lake Charles, LA passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016 in a local hospital.

 

Ms. Jackson was born on December 14, 1952 in Lake Charles where she was a lifelong resident. She was a 1970 graduate of W.O. Boston High School. Ms. Jackson continued her education at McNeese State University having received a B.A. in 1973, an M.ED. in 1979, and a Master’s Degree plus 30 hours in 2004. She was a teacher for the Calcasieu Parish School Board for 30 years concentrating in the foreign language division, especially French. Ms. Jackson was a high achiever and was fortunate to have studied abroad in Paris, France and at the Université Laval in Quebec. She was a member of the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities Teacher Institute. Ms. Jackson was a devoted Catholic and was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she belonged to the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary.

 

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Marian Jackson of Lake Charles; and four siblings, Ivory Alexander (Madelyn) of Houston, Donald Jackson (Judy) of Lake Charles, Geary Jackson (Jamie) of Lake Charles, and Carla Jackson Patton of Houston, TX. She also leaves behind a special niece and nephew whom she had guardianship of, Samantha Nash of Los Angeles, CA and Brandon Jackson of Lake Charles, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Charles Jackson and a sister, Sadie Bell Jackson.

 

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Burial will follow in Combre Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin in the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 AM until leaving for the church at 10:30 AM with a rosary being recited at 10:00 AM.

 

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the medical community who went above and beyond while taking care of Ms. Jackson for the past 7 years.
