Melissa “Missie” Hollis Perritt was born January 26, 1967 in Lake Charles, LA.
There are so many ways we can define the phenomenal woman Missie Perritt was, but the best that comes to mind is she embodied sharing her love of life with those around her, the ones she loved the most.
Missie was a spirited, strong, independent, woman who possessed a big heart, wore all pink, ALL the TIME with plenty of bling! If you ask what her biggest accomplishment was, undoubtably it was her family. To her sons, Shane and Blaine she instilled the importance of family, setting the example by possessing a positive attitude no matter the circumstances.
Her sister Peggy says she tackled the obstacles of life as gracefully as the stool she tripped over every day as a kid, the process may not have been the most pretty, but she always stood back up, brushed herself off and took that step forward. Her brother Ray recounts the phenomenal cook she was, and how willing she was to cater an event, and how patient she was to teach others the way around a ladle and pot. Missie always felt a piece of her heart was missing, a calling to find a sister, Carrie whom she had recently learned of. Without hesitation, in the summer of 2015, she made the trip to Tennessee to meet her long lost sister. Carrie recounts the days they spent pool side, talking, reminiscing about their lives.
To her grandchildren, “MeMe’s Babies” a greeting she used every time she crossed through the door. As with her own children, she never fell short of instilling the outlook of positivity, love, compassion, and spending as much time with them as possible. Every day with them was a gift she cherished, with any gift she showed her appreciation with the overdramatic responses of happiness and joy.
She was employed at Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Office for 18 years as a Dispatcher. She took her oath of Protect and Serve seriously. It was not a job to her, but a career and she ensured her boys and girls in blue went home safely every night.
She was welcomed into Heaven by her two sons, Stanley Shane Perritt and Steven Blaine Perritt; her father, Bill Lyons; grandmother, Amy Lois Romero; a brother, Aaron Keith Romero; Nephew, Eric Hollis; Aunt, Pat Lovelace.
Those left to cherish her memory; her grandchildren, Shae, Paysleigh, Kinley, and Cruz; a daughter in-love, Tracy (Antron) Harland; her mother, Alice Marie Reeves; her adoptive mother and stepfather, Glenn and Loretta Leger; siblings, Peggy (Whitney) Naquin, Carrie Bryan, Willie Lyons, Donald Ray (Cindy) Hollis, Darren Leger, Rhonda Bryant, Ashley Hopper; her aunts, Diane Leger, Linda Liscotta, and Jackie Steen; the “Louise to her Thelma”, Carol Ann Bourge and her CPSO dispatcher family and friends.
Family will welcome friends at Lake City Baptist Church 3940 Holly Hill Rd on Saturday, April 17, 2021 beginning at 11am until time of service. A Celebration of her life, led by Terry Ardizonne will begin at 2pm. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home and she will be laid to rest at a later date at Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake, LA.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph Hospice for their compassionate care.
