Molly Mary Braggs-Rego passed away peacefully on January 11, 2019 at the age of 101 having lived a very fulfilled life.
Molly was born in Mangalore, India. She was the beloved wife of (late) Charles Mathew Rego, who served the Allies in Italy as Captain in the Indian Medical Service, during World War II. Molly lived most of her life in Mumbai (formerly Bombay) India, before moving to the U.S.A, and lived in Atlanta, Ga, and Irvine, Ca, before becoming a resident of Lake Charles in 2013.
She was widely known in the land of her birth for her unstinting generosity; both to those with means and to those who had nothing. She embraced an unvarnished kind of Christianity and had a forthright manner for things that mattered. Her wry sense of humor was delightful. All of Molly’s qualities made her boundlessly endearing and elevated her to a great lady.
Molly was an ever loving mother to her daughters, Noella (Lake Charles) and late husband, Victor Mascarenhas; Maude Rego (California), ex-spouse Allan Robertson; Fabiola and spouse, Kenneth Rodericks (Lake Charles); Bernadette Rego (California); and, to her sons, Allan and spouse, Jenny (Mumbai, India); Desmond (U.K.) and late wife, Elaine; Ivan and spouse, Janice (U.K); Joseph and spouse, Olive (California) and late William. Fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; and, one great great grandchild were also blessed to be Molly’s descendants.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rego; son, Bobby Rego; parents, Joseph Michael and Therese Braggs; and brother, Bertram Braggs.
The family expresses their gratitude to Dr. Carolyn Hutchinson, Molly’s caregivers, Loretta Theriot, Emily Gardner, Cheryl Richardson, Suzette Boone and Cattina Rougeaux, and, to each of Molly’s Nurses of Christus-Saint Patrick’s Hospice Care.
