Murray Calvin “Bo” House, 93, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 9:40 AM on Friday, April 10, 2020 in his residence, surrounded by his family.
Mr. House was born December 3, 1926 in Lake Charles, LA and was a 1944 graduate of Iowa High School. He was also a graduate of Matthews Business School and served his country in the U.S. Navy onboard the USS Nashville. He was the owner / operator of J. Wesley Truck Stop from 1958-1979 and worked side by side with his wife. Bo was best known for his time spent and dedication as a Shriner. He was a member and Past Master of Rudolph Krause Lodge #433 F&AM, a 33º Scottish Rite Mason, past Director of the Lake Charles Court #178 ROJ, and past Potentate and recorder of the Habibi Shrine Temple. He was instrumental in bringing the Habibi Shrine Circus to Lake Charles and volunteered his time working with burn victims. Mr. House was an active member of University United Methodist Church for many years. He was a past Hometown Hero, where KPLC honored him for his service in the Navy and his dedicated service to the community. He enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and was an avid New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers fan.
Mr. House is survived by his daughters, Sharon Thibodeaux (Harold), Betty House (Jimmy Blanco), Mary Kate Roberts (Bill), and Hollie Saltzman (Jimmy Paul); grandchildren, Scotty Nelson (Delta), Joy Nelson McBroom (Curtis), Sara Thibodeaux Theard (Blaise), Ashley Gary Cooper, Beau Gary, Cory Leger (Jennifer), Kara Leger Weeks (Jonathan), and Clay Leger; along with thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-eight years, Frances Vivian “Billie” House; parents, Murray and Emma Pujol House; and a sister, Eura Kathleen House.
A celebration of his life will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Weldon Barres will officiate. A gathering of family members and friends will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 PM until the start of the service.
