Myrna Jo Benoit Trahan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, in her home in Hayes, Louisiana. Born on February 25, 1939, in Gueydan, Louisiana, Myrna exemplified the spirit of love and kindness which she shared generously with all who knew her.
A devoted homemaker, Myrna dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting her family, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all. She is survived by her cherished husband, Henry Trahan, and her children: Wilmer "Dub" Rogers, III (Linda Shehan), Dr. Penny Goodwin, Janet Allen (Royce), and Joe Rogers (Devin Scott) and her step-children, Belinda LeBlanc (Carl), Henry Trahan, Jr., Steven Trahan (Cynthia), and Ramonica Leger (Bradley). Myrna will be missed deeply by her sister, Iown Thornburg, and her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy. Her legacy lives on through Jim Ferguson, Erika Naquin, Scotti Call, Jack Rogers, Scarlett Scott, Josh Benoit, Brad Leger, Lizzy Leger, Gavin Trahan, Sarah Trahan, and great-grandchildren Ian Ferguson, El Ferguson, Henry Ferguson, Audrey Goodwin, Gabbie Thibodeaux, London Thibodeaux, Layla Thibodeaux, and Archer Call.
Myrna's family invites friends and loved ones to join them in honoring her life and memory. A gathering of friends will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa. Cremation will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa. Myrna will be remembered for her unwavering love, gentle spirit, and the countless moments of joy she provided to her family.
In these moments of sorrow, the Trahan family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the support and love extended to them. Myrna's spirit will forever remain in their hearts, a beautiful reminder of the bond they shared.
Myrna was preceded in death by her father, Elire Benoit; her mother, Auzitile Suire Benoit Manuel; her siblings, Mary Smith, and James Benoit; her son-in-law, Bill Goodwin, her grandchildren, Ryan Goodwin, Amanda Leger, and former husband, Wilmer Howell Rogers, Jr.
