Lake Charles – Nellie Joyce Martin, born October 26, 1935, daughter of Stanley Martin, Sr. and Bella (Royer) Martin, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family, at the age of 82.
Nellie is survived by her son, Alfred Miller (Jocelyn); sister, Beatrice Rogers; grandchildren, Eula Mae Hesse (Rocky Fontenot), Beverly Marie Leger (Paul), Glenn Dale Miller (Jennifer); great grandchildren, Dylan Hesse, Tre’venn Carter, Ravenn Carter, Caden Miller, Collin Miller. She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Bella Martin; daughter, Eula Mae Miller; sisters, Eva Lasage, Frances Stone; brothers, Leo Martin, Sr., Stanley Martin, Preston Martin, Ignace Martin, Sidney Martin, Ulysse Martin.
Nellie enjoyed gardening, fishing and cooking. She was a member of Lady’s Altar Society and Angel of the Tree.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home ~ Iowa with Father Dismas Mauk as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery ~ Rayne. Visitation begins Thursday, from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home ~ Iowa and will resume Friday in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
