Newitt "Sonny" Richard, Jr.

Hayes – Newitt “Sonny” Richard, Jr, born in Branch, LA on July 16, 1942, son of the late Newitt and Alice (Oliver) Richard, Sr., passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the age of eighty-two.

Sonny was a graduate of Marion High School and faithfully served in the U.S. Army. He worked as an auto mechanic until he retired. Sonny enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved working on old tractors.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Emma Eloise Richard; son Michael Richard, parents; sisters, Ada Cormier, Margaret Nix, Violet “Tiny” Winn.

Sonny is survived by his son, Russell Richard (Kaye); grandchildren, Keegan LeJeune (Brittany), Cory Richard; great-grandchildren, Roman and Parker; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 11 a.m. A gathering of family and friends begins at 10 a.m. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
