Nicholas “Nick” Pizzolatto, Jr., 76, of Lake Charles, passed away November 10, 2023, at a local rehabilitation facility with family and loved ones by his side. Nick was born in Jennings, LA. on July 20, 1947, to Nicholas, Sr. and Suzanne Pizzolatto.
Growing up in Jennings along with his 7 siblings, Nick became an incredible athlete having played football for Jennings High School. He then attended Tulane University on an athletic scholarship where he lettered in football as a tight end. He graduated from Tulane in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduation he continued his education earning his Juris Doctor Degree in 1972. He also proudly served his country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army ROTC.
Nick practiced law for over 51 years while raising his 4 children in Louisiana. The last 20 years of his career he focused on advocating and representing children as Attorney Supervisor for the State of Louisiana Child and Family Services.
He was an amazing grandfather to his 18 grandchildren and loved watching them grow up performing in a multitude of activities from performing arts to competing in athletics. He was equally proud of his 4 children and their amazing lives. He was a larger than life personality who never met a stranger. His infectious laugh, charm, humor and wit will be missed deeply by those he loved and that loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children: Natalie Dugas (Daron), Nicole Verot (Darcy), Nic Pizzolatto (Suzanne), Nath Pizzolatto (Carolyn); siblings; Connie Geter (Robert), Michael Pizzolatto (Joy), Theresa Galvis (Salty), Peter Pizzolatto (Mary), Mark Pizzolatto (Marie), Stephanie Parrino, and 18grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Elizabeth Pizzolatto Chauvin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM, Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 3939 Lake St., Lake Charles, LA. 70605. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30AM Tuesday prior to the Mass. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. Placement of his urn in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery will take place at a later date.
