Nicholas Cole Fletcher, born on October 8, 1997, of Lake Charles, passed away on November 16, 2024, surrounded by family.
A graduate of McNeese State University, Nick was actively involved in Kappa Alpha Order, Delta Xi, where he formed lifelong friendships and embraced the values of brotherhood and service. Standing tall with a passion for weightlifting, "Big Nick" was known for his big heart and bear hugs. He was a personal trainer for Project Fit and loved coaching and teaching his clients, including several high school athletes. Nick also had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He loved history, economics, and political sciences, with plans to study law.
In just 27 years, Nick left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know him. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend, whose unwavering support and encouragement extended to everyone—from his clients, who found inspiration in his instruction, to his family and friends, who could always rely on his love and loyalty.
Nicholas is survived by his parents, Ken and Lezlie Fletcher; his sister, Emily Fletcher; his grandparents, Kenneth and Gwen Fletcher, and Linda Chapman; his uncles and aunts, Troy and Laura Fletcher and Billy and Cheree Chapman; and his cousins, Blake (Linda), Grace Chapman, and Lucy and Emerson Fletcher.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Vernice Cole (Mokey), and his grandfather, Philip Chapman.
Throughout Nick’s eight-month battle with leukemia, his faith never wavered, and he was always grateful to those who cared for him. The family would like to extend thanks to the medical team at the Tulane Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at East Jefferson General Hospital, the compassionate care provided by Brighton Bridge Hospice, and the countless friends and family who provided endless support throughout Nick’s battle.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at First Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles. Burial will take place at Prien Memorial Park in Lake Charles, LA.
Visitation will be held at his church, First Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., and will resume Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.
