Nina Hue Neely Brock, 76, of Lake Charles passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017 in the comfort of her home, built by her father for her mother in 1963. She was surrounded by many loved ones.
Mrs. Brock was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. She was a graduate of LaGrange High School where she was a majorette with the band and most importantly met her lifelong love. She was also a graduate of McNeese State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and Master’s degree in Business and Communication. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and proudly served their Rose Court. Mrs. Brock worked thirty-two years at St. Patrick’s Hospital eventually working her way to the Lab Director position, five years as Lab Director for SmithKline Beecham and fourteen years as the Assistant Lab Director at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. After fifty years of service in the lab, she finally decided to retire. During her younger years, she loved water sports, swimming, skiing, time by the water and was crowned Miss Water Safety. Her title took her to Florida to Cypress Gardens; among the many prizes she won the top prize was working with children and Ester Williams double that were featured in a television film later that year. She also received flying lessons at a local airstrip where she soloed for more than fourteen hours. She enjoyed being a counselor at camp Wi-Ta-Wentin. She loved to have a good time, a former member of Krewe de Feteurs; she always loved Mardi Gras and attending countless events, presentations and balls. She was also an active member of the Buccaneers of Lake Charles, Calcasieu Boat Club and Pelican Coast Parrot Head Club where she was currently serving on the board as Club Historian. Some of her greatest times were spent traveling with friends for their stay in Key West. Mrs. Brock will be most remembered for her love and devotion to her husband and her family. She will be remembered for her kind, gentle and genuine heart, her giving nature and her positive, playful spirit. Mrs. Brock loved life and living it. She will be greatly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Heather LeJeune and her husband Shannon of Lake Charles; their children, Cody Brock, Amber LeJeune, Dustin LeJeune and wife Gwen, Madison LeJeune, Brandon LeJeune and Katy LeJeune; six great grandchildren and many dear friends.
