Nolan Joseph Gaspard, 95, of Lake Charles passed away at 8:04 AM on Monday, December 8, 2025 in a local hospice facility.
Mr. Gaspard was born on February 27, 1930, in Rayne, Louisiana. He was raised in Lake Charles, the community he proudly called home for his entire life.
He served his country with courage in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, he became the owner of Gaspard and Sons Air Conditioning and Appliances, where he built a respected legacy through hard work, integrity, and dedication to those he served.
An avid outdoorsman, he spent many years as a hunting guide with the Oak Grove Hunting Club. He found great joy in the quiet of the outdoors, the thrill of the hunt, and the camaraderie shared with fellow sportsmen. He also loved fishing and playing cards—pastimes that brought him laughter, friendship, and countless cherished memories.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Regina Richard and Tom L. Gaspard (Debra); step son, Don McVay; siblings, Gerdell Theriot, Nelvia Murphy (Guy), and John Gaspard (Sharon); grandchildren, Thad Gaspard (Camille “Camy”) and Clint Richard; and great grandchildren, Issac Gaspard, Brody Richard, Grantt Richard, Alex Gaskin, and Addie Gaskin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Gaspard; his parents, Raymond and Telice Gaspard; step son, Robert McVay; son in law, EJ Richard; grandson, Taylor Gaskin; and siblings, Glynn Gaspard, Louise McCardle, Verdi Williams (Gilbert), Letha Cormier (Gibson), Kirby Gaspard, Carolyn “Shoonie” Primeaux, Nadel “Ace” Gaspard, Thelma Shepherd, Sylvia Mangum, and Enell Nash (Julius).
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel in Lake Charles. Rev. Steve Shirley will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until the start of the service.
