Norma Boblett

May 6, 1938 — September 28, 2025

Norma Jean Bruce Boblett passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025. She was born to Thomas Edward Bruce and Manervia Loftin Bruce in Lake Charles, Louisiana and grew up with a strong faith and love of family that guided her entire life.

Norma was a graduate of Marion High School. She was a founding member of Bethel Baptist Church in North Lake Charles, where she met the love of her life, Van Harrel Boblett with whom she shared 49 years of marriage.

Norma dedicated her career to teaching, serving over 40 years in education. Most of her time was spent at Moss Bluff Elementary School where she taught first grade for 32 years.

Her faith was central to her life. A longtime member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff for over 50 years, she also helped plant Westside Baptist Church in Moss Bluff. She taught Sunday School for many years and played both the piano and organ for worship services at different churches in her life. One of her greatest passions was coordinating Operation Christmas Child through First Baptist Moss Bluff. Norma traveled to Dallas and Atlanta to help pack boxes and spread God's love even further, and this ministry became her "baby" in the church.

Norma loved to travel. While her husband was serving in the Air Force, they lived in many different places and later continued their adventures in a motorhome, traveling to all 50 states. She especially cherished her trips to Branson, Missouri. Norma also enjoyed square dancing and made many lifelong friends along the way.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children Donna Cole (Brack), Tom Boblett (Belinda), Eileen Arceneaux (John); grandchildren: Natasha Guidry (Parish), Christopher Douget (Amanda), Jessica Hoots (Noah), Dustin Cole (Hannah), MacKenzie Arceneaux (Fanci Cole), and Elizabeth Boblett; her great-grandchildren Brigdon Guidry (Toni), Brennan Douget, Connor Douget, Landon Guidry, Flynn Guidry, Helena Douget, Eli Cole, Olivia Cole, Isla Hoots, and Penn Arceneaux-Cole; her great-great-grandchild Haygen Douget; her siblings Margaret Cromwell and Jim Bruce; and her special friends Peggy and Tete Copeland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 49 years Van Harrel Boblett, her daughter Brenda Douget Benson, her brother Benny Bruce, and her sister Virginia Gilbert.

A funeral service in honor of Norma will take place on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 1:00p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff.
