Norma Lee Bourriague

March 18, 1936 — October 13, 2024

Norma Lee Bourriague, born in Creole, Louisiana on March 18, 1936, daughter of the late Hilaire and Alida (Labove) Benoit, passed away in her daughter's residence in Orange, Texas on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the age of eighty-eight.

Norma was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and devoted to the Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary daily. She enjoyed cooking, listening to music, dancing, playing card games, word search, and especially game shows. Her heart was the happiest when she had a house full of her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Andrew Bourriague; son, Michael Bourriague; siblings, Winston Benoit, Herbert Benoit, Olive Rutherford, Corrine Willis, Barbara Trahan, Lorriane Miller, Mary Ann Trahan, and an infant brother; granddaughter, Veronica Ann Borriague; great-granddaughter, Calli Brooke Mears; two children, David Bourriague, and Peggy Conner.

Survivors are her children, Lefty Bourriague (Chris Simon), Edward Bourriague (Tabatha), and Mary Ellis (Eric), Donna Verzwyvelt (John), Helen Conner (Duke); grandchildren, Katie Farque, Ryan Ellis, Samantha Phillips, Lauri Mearse, Joshlynn Phillips, Jessica Hanson (Christopher), Linzi Borriague, Curtis Geer, Colby Leger, Britney Bourriague, Bailey Bourriague, Rhonda Boudreaux, Jason Verzwyvelt (Lori), Jerome Verzwyvelt (Erica), Jeffery Verzwyvelt (Courtney), Tonia Conner, Derek Conner, Victor Conner, Barbara Rose Conner, Erika Bourriague Harrington, Denya Lawrence, Amy Bourriague, Jami Bourriague, and LeTisha Stiles; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lacassine on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 10 a.m. Rev. Jom Joseph, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral home of Iowa.

Visitation begins Thursday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m., and will resume Friday in the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
