Norris "Richard" Pelloquin died on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 1:00pm in a local care facility following a brief battle with cancer. Richard was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on November 16, 1947 to Norris and Nora Pelloquin. A life-long resident of Southwest Louisiana, he graduated from LaGrange Senior High School in 1965 and went on to serve his country in the United States Naval Reserve from 1966 until 1968 as a chaplain's assistant aboard the aircraft-carrier USS Boxer. Upon returning home he attended McNeese State University where he earned a business degree in 1974. Shortly thereafter, he began work as a machinist at CITGO Petroleum and was employed in various capacities there until his retirement as a purchasing agent in 2004 after nearly thirty years of service. As a proud and devoted credit union member and volunteer for over 35 years, Richard was a passionate advocate for the credit union movement. He served on various committees of the CIT-CON Credit Union and continued that service after their merger with CSE Federal Credit Union in 1982. In 1986 he was elected to the CSE Board of Directorsa position he was most honored to have held and one which he dutifully and enthusiastically fulfilled until his death. He held his colleagues at CSE in the highest esteem and considered them all to be among his closest personal friends. Richard was an excellent cook and truly enjoyed sharing that skill with others especially his family, friends, and acquaintances. As a dedicated member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, he regularly helped prepare and serve Sunday breakfasts to the congregation there as an original member of the "Roosters" Breakfast Team. In his spare time, he also enjoyed barbequing, playing his accordion, listening to his much-loved Cajun music, spending time with his family and friends, and, of course, watching LSU and the Saints win. He was a loving father and grandfather, a loyal friend, and a man of exceptionally strong moral character. He will be sorely missed and always fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Donna Bumpers, and one brother, Billy Pelloquin, all of Lake Charles. Survivors include his wife of twenty-three years, Wendy Pelloquin; his brother Gerald "Jerry" Pelloquin and wife Joy of Sulphur; a brother-in-law, Jim "Red" Bumpers and a sister-in-law, Andrea Pelloquin, both of Lake Charles; a daughter, Carrie Cary and husband, Chad of Lake Charles; one son Brent Pelloquin and wife, Brandi of Lafayette; two step-sons, Matthew Lognion and wife, Emily, and Ryan Lognion, all of Lake Charles; eight granddaughters, Abigail, Sophia, Kallie, Libby, Anna, Nora, Caroline, and Ava; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Johnson's Funeral Home. His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Deborah Heathcock of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial and a brief graveside service will be held at Lacassine Cemetery.
