Oliver Dale Andrus

Oliver Dale Andrus, 85, of Lake Charles passed away at 9:17 PM on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in a local hospital.

Mr. Andrus was born on April 8, 1931 in Crowley, LA and was a graduate of Crowley High School. He worked for Bell South Telephone and retired from AT&T in 1985 after 34 years of service. Mr. Andrus served in the US Marine Corp from 1951 to 1953 and was a Korean War Veteran. He was involved in the Senior Olympics both locally and state wide.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy Istre Andrus of Lake Charles; three sons, Mark Andrus (Janet) of Baton Rouge, Craig Andrus (Cathy) of Austin, TX, and Mitch Andrus (Manda) of Lake Charles; two daughters, Mary Schutz of Suffolk, VA and Diane Elizabeth Andrus of Lake Charles; a sister, Sylvia Johnson of Crowley; and seven grandchildren, Catherine, Taylor, Mitchell, Ella, Mason, and Morgan Andrus, and Matthew Schutz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wynn and Esther Andrus.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 21, 2017 in Johnson Funeral Home. An inurnment will follow in Consolata Cemetery with military honors.
