Olivia Mae Richard

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Olivia Mae Richard, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this life on October 21, 2025, in Sulphur, LA. Olivia was born on September 6, 1941, in Beaumont, TX, and spent her life touching the hearts of those around her through her warmth and unwavering spirit. Throughout her journey, Olivia engaged in the simple pleasures of life. She found joy in shopping, visiting friends, eating out at her favorite restaurants, going to church and spending countless hours watching EWTN.

Olivia is survived by her daughters, Mariane Bittner and husband James Bittner, and Elizabeth Thibodeaux; sons, Jude McFarlain and Abe McFarlain; brother, Gary Abshire; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lennis and Beulah Broussard Abshire; son, John McFarlain; sister, Shirley Ann Abshire Perry; daughter, Bell Ann McFarlain; brothers, James Abshire, Sr., and Leonard Abshire; and her husband, Jerald McFarlain.

The family would like to thank Teresa McBride, Geri Ledoux, and Gail Deckard for the special care and compassion they showed Olivia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 27, 2025, at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Sulphur, LA. Burial will be at Big Woods Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, with the Rosary at 6:00 PM Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur.
