Orville Victor Boyd "Homer," age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at his home in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was born on October 26, 1942, in DeQuincy, Louisiana.
A proud veteran, Homer honorably served his country in the United States Army, completing two tours during the Vietnam War. His service reflected the same strength and loyalty he carried throughout his life.
Homer was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time in nature and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He never met a stranger. His kindness, humor, and warm personality made everyone feel like a friend. He especially loved playing bingo with the ladies and sharing laughter wherever he went. Above all, Homer was a devoted father who deeply loved his children and took joy in being part of their lives. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lauren Boyd, whose memory he cherished every day.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, 4321 Lake Street. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
Homer will be remembered for his gentle heart, generous spirit, and the laughter he brought to those around him. His life was a gift, and his memory will continue to bring comfort and joy to all who knew and loved him.
