Otis Long, 91, passed away at his residence on May 10, 2024.
He was born on December 7, 1932 in Lake Charles, LA to William and Sabra Hutchins Long.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army. He also served as a Deputy with the Calcasieu Parish Sherriff’s Office, and as a supervisor with Arkansas State Parks for many years. He loved to joke and play pranks. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Pansy Long; children, Johnny “Poncho” Long, Lisa Marie Landry, Michelle Dowden (Jeff); grandchildren, Melissa, Brandon, Brett, Brandi, Jennifer, Kaysha, Fredrick “Frog”, Blake, and Brittany; as well as a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; eight siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two children, Charlotte Long and Ricky Long; his parents; and four siblings.
His funeral will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 10 a.m. His son, Minister Johnny Long will officiate. Burial will take place in Birdnest Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the start of the service.
