Iowa - Otis James Miller, born January 12, 1933 in Iowa, Louisiana to the late Claude and Theresa Hebert Miller, passed away in the Southwest LA Veterans' Home in Jennings, Friday, July 06, 2018, at the age of 85.
Otis was a graduate of Lacassine High and member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Airforce from 1951 until 1953. He was a self-employed carpenter. Otis loved tending to his horses and helping his neighbors. His children and grandchildren will miss his outgoing and friendly nature.
Otis is survived by his faithful wife of 65 years, Helen Abshire Miller; daughters, Susan Johnson and husband, Jeff, and Lorrie LeFranc and husband, Ronnie; son, Carl Miller and wife, Jan; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dolores Hagan, Jeanette Perrin and husband, Earl; brothers, Nolan Miller and wife, Shirley and Vurtis Miller. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Monty Miller; siblings, Ellen Mae Miller, Elaine Guthrey, Wilton Miller, Donald Miller and J. C. Miller.
Funeral services will be in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 10 a.m. with the Rev’s. Dore Langley and Richard Louivier officiating. Burial will follow in Pinehill Cemetery. Visitation begins Sunday from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. and will resume Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
