Otto Joseph “O.J.” Louviere, 83, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 9, 1942, in Bell City, Louisiana, to Pearl Broussard and Lee Roy Louviere.
O.J. was a proud veteran who honorably served in the United States Army. A graduate of LaGrange High School, he continued his education and played football at Northeastern then moved to Houston and attended a mechanical drafting college. O.J. worked as a draftsman for 2 years in Houston before beginning his 32 year career as a welder for Conoco refinery which is where he retired.
A longtime member of Sale Street Baptist Church, O.J. was affectionately known as “the candy man” who always had candy in his pocket for anyone who entered the church. He was an avid football fan who loved coaching his children, but above all, O.J. cherished his family deeply and lived his life as a devoted Christian man. He never met a stranger and was instantly loved by all who met him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Jo Ann Ward Louviere; his children, Temple Louviere, Paige Ardoin and husband Craig, Colin Louviere and wife Casey, and Cylyce Reed and husband Jason; and his grandchildren, Bryce Louviere, Jamie McGee, Brylee Richmond, Karlynn Louviere, Kaitlynn Louviere, Bryce Reed, Emily Ardoin, Bruks Reed, Brennan Louviere, Zachary Tuia’ana, Avery Louviere, Noah Tuia’ana, Alison Ardoin, Aidan Louviere, and Addyson Louviere. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren and his sisters, Jenell Fruge, Ellen Harrington, Bernadette Fruge, and Linda Granger.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wilfred Louviere.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
