Pamela Johnson Cary

Sep 7, 1947 — Oct 15, 2026

Pamela Johnson Cary passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on October 15, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on September 7, 1947, to Howell Johnson and Viola Savant Johnson, Pam grew up in the charming town of Sulphur, Louisiana in a home filled with faith, love, laughter and joyful summers spent at Moss Lake, alongside her sisters, Sharon and Cynthia, and friends on the water.

Pam was a proud graduate of Sulphur High School's class of 1965 and attended McNeese, where she was a twirler at both. She was crowned Queen of the 1961 Cal-Cam Fair.

Pam's life was marked by an unwavering devotion to her family. She shared 60 beautiful years with her beloved husband, Shannon. Their enduring partnership was a testament to their deep love and mutual respect, a foundation that supported their family through joyous and challenging times alike.

Pam's legacy continues through her cherished husband, Shannon Cary, daughter, Miguel Cary and her granddaughters, Bailee Brown (Arlan), Chelsea Schumacher, and Amber Byland (Paul), who were a source of immense pride and joy. Her love extended to her six great-grandchildren, Brody, Sophia, Jonah, Thea, Riley, and Chloe, who brought endless delight into her life.

Pam's nurturing spirit reached beyond her immediate family. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews, and her affection extended across generations to her great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Pam faced the heartbreak of losing her parents, Howell Johnson and Viola Savant Johnson, her daughter Shawn McFarlain, her sisters Sharon Singletary and Cynthia Hebert, and her nephews John Howell Hebert and Charles Hebert.

Pam's legacy is not only etched in the hearts of her family but also in the countless lives she touched with her generosity, kindness and wonderful cooking. Those who wish to honor her memory may do so by contributing to a charity of their choice, reflecting Pam's belief in the power of giving and community support.

In celebrating Pam's life, we remember a woman of grace and boundless love. Her warmth and compassion will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to have known her, and her spirit will continue to inspire her family and friends for generations to come.

A Celebration of Pam’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 7 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. The family will receive friends at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur from 6 to 8 PM.
