Patricia Ann Sigur

October 11, 1938 — October 20, 2016

Patricia Ann Artigue Sigur, 78, of Lake Charles died peacefully on October 20, 2016, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.  Pat was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be greatly missed by her large family and many life-long friends.

Pat was born to Ryan and Alta (Zerangue) Artigue on October 11, 1938 in Leonville, Louisiana.  After graduating from LaGrange High School, Pat worked in the Fine Arts Department at McNeese State University.  After her marriage in 1956, she was a fulltime mother to her seven daughters.  Later, she returned to work as a paralegal, and in 1982, went to work for the Diocese of Lake Charles in the Office of the Tribunal. She retired in 2004.

Pat’s true joy came from travelling and spending time with family and friends.  She enjoyed trips abroad to many countries as well as getaways to the family camp on Toledo Bend Lake with her husband, Don.

As a young wife and mother, Pat was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi Service Sorority and was awarded their Order of the Rose.  Pat was also a faithful servant in the Catholic community and a Catholic Daughter.  In 1981, Pat was awarded the Papal Medal Benemerenti, and in 1994, she received the Devoted Service Medal from Bishop Speyrer.  In 2010, she was bestowed the title of Pontifical Dame in the Order of Pope St. Sylvester.  Most recently, Pat served as a marriage preparation counselor, and as a member of the OLQH Altar Society, Resurrection Choir, and A.C.T.S. Retreat Team.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ryan Artigue.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald A. Sigur; and her daughters and their spouses Rosemary Ottenweller, Angela Hornsby (John), Marcelle Walker (David), Stephanie Clifton (Bob), Kate Pye (Frank), Rachel Boyd (Scott) and Monique Horvath (John).  Pat was loved and will be missed by her thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
