Paul G. Frieu, Jr., 51, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, October 1st, 2021 in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Frieu was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He was a 1987 graduate of Barbe High School where he played baseball. Following graduation, he served the United States Army. Mr. Frieu started his young career driving Dump Trucks and Cross Country 18 Wheelers. He discovered his talents and passion for Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics and accepted a job with LA Machinery, now, LA CAT where he has worked, studied and acquired countless licenses and certifications, throughout his nearly twenty-year career. His time off was often spent working outside, hunting, fishing or at his camp in Toledo Bend with family and friends. He also enjoyed watching John Wayne and Old Westerns. Some of Mr. Frieu’s greatest memories were made during summer vacation travels to New Orleans, Sea World of San Antonio, TX, Mobile, AL and Gatlinburg, TN, as he gave his daughters suggestions and “their choice” in destination. He was a man of faith and member of Friendship Baptist Church.
He leaves to honor his memory, his wife, Betty Jean “BJ” Works Frieu, of Lake Charles; daughters, Tana Marie Hall and Anna Marie Jackson (Ronnie) both of Lake Charles; mother, Dorothy Frieu Swire of Lake Charles; brother, David Paul Frieu (Christi Lynn) of Dodson, LA; nieces and nephews, David Paul “T-Dave” Frieu, Jr. (Jessica), Gabriel Elizabeth Frieu, Aaron Michael Frieu, Amanda Gutkowski (Hannah), Blake Romero (Tyler), Carissa Young and Dylan Young; mother-in-law, Ann Works of Lake Charles; sister-in-law, Barbara Young (Ricci) of lake Charles and his extended family at CAT.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul G. “Bubba” Frieu, Sr.; father-in-law, Robert Works and sister-in-law, Wanda Barton.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 PM Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Friendship Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Nathan Nazworth will officiate. Interment services will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Wednesday will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the church.
