Paul O. Venable

Paul Oliziem Venable, 62, of Westlake passed away Friday, April 30, 2021 in the comfort of his home.

Mr. Venable was a lifelong resident of Westlake, LA.  He was a 1976 graduate of Westlake High School and shortly thereafter began Barber College studies in Benton, LA.  He worked as a Barber for over forty years, primarily at Pousson’s Barber Shop in Westlake.  For fun, Mr. Venable was often found playing on his computer, skyping and POGO games with his friend in Canada.  He will be most remembered for his morning drives and stops to sit and reflect by the Houston River.

He leaves to honor his memory, two sisters, Ellen Marie Venable of DeQuincy and Aurelia “Peanut” Roya (Larry) of Lake Charles; one nephew, Tony Roya, Jr. (Becca) of Jamestown, TN; two nieces, Billie Jo Ingram (Billy) of Pearl River and Alyece Marie Fralick (Chad) of Ault, CO; one great-niece and four great-nephews; one uncle, Ojust Clement (Martha) of Vinton and two aunts, Ina Johnson of Westlake and Winnie J. Kingery (Wilson) of Moss Bluff.  He also leaves his work family, Gervis Miller of Sulphur and Tony Pousson of Westlake and friends, Ken Lyotier of Canada, Katie Smiley of Yellville, AR and Joan Burns of DeQuincy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Yvonne Clement Venable and a brother, Robert Lee Venable.

The family of Mr. Venable wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of the Heart of Hospice for their excellence in care, kindness and comfort during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life gathering of family and friends will be Saturday May 29, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the American Legion of Westlake.  Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake.
