Peggy Ann Davis Michel, 92, died December 26, 2023, in a local care facility.
Peggy was born February 3, 1931, in Bucklin, Missouri to Jesse and Blanche Flint Davis. She was the fourth of five girls. Peggy graduated from Bucklin High School where she played trumpet in the band and forward on the girls’ basketball team.
As a young adult, Peggy moved from Missouri to Lake Charles, LA to marry her husband, Ray Allen Michel. They had three sons Terry, Greg, and Brian. Peggy and Ray enjoyed 62 years of marriage until his death in 2014.
Peggy was a dedicated member of First Christian Church and had worked at Sears as an upstairs assistant cashier. She was a loving mother, wife, and friend to many. She was an excellent cook and an animal lover. No one ever left her house hungry, including any of God’s “critters” that showed up in her yard. Peggy took joy in bowling, golf, sewing, cooking, reading, playing the piano and an occasional trip to the casino.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Blanche Davis, husband Ray Michel, and sisters Evaseen Terrell, Celo Geers, and Zelma Delaney.
She is survived by her three sons, Terry Michel and wife Beth, Greg Michel and fiancée Faye Patten, Brian Michel, and companion Ms. Kelly Bentley, all of Lake Charles. Also step grandchildren Melissa Riquelmy and husband Glen and their sons Landon and Clint, and Mandy Fontenot. She is also survived by her sister Betty Shoemaker of Missouri and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers and nurses with Sage Oak Memory Care and Amedisys Hospice for their care of our beloved Peggy.
