Percy LaPointe, 78, of Lake Charles, LA died Wednesday, November 18, 2015.
Percy was born on September 13, 1937 to Savie and Amelia LaPointe in Indian Bayou, LA. Percy enjoyed cooking, dancing, and socializing with friends and family. He was an avid McNeese supporter. Percy was an umpire for the LHSSA Softball Association and a high school and college football referee. He was a 4th Degree Knight member of the Knights of Columbus and retired LTC of the U.S. Army. He also was owner of LaPointe Painting and Papering.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Alva Reisgen LaPointe of Lake Charles, LA; three children, Laura LaPointe Aaron and husband Cary of Shreveport, LA, Becky LaPointe Poor and husband David of Baton Rouge, LA, and David LaPointe of Lake Charles, LA; he was most proud of his four grandchildren, Alison Poor, Kerrigan LaPointe, Michael Poor, and Nicholas LaPointe.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Bernice Abshire and Dorothy Mire.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Sunday from 8:00 AM until time of service at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery.
