Phillip J. Billiot

Phillip Joseph Billiot, 66, of Carlyss passed away peacefully in his home after a 1-1/2 year hard fought battle with cancer.  

Although he was an extremely difficult man to get along with most times, he was an excellent entertainer/teacher to his children and grandchildren during their younger years: He built things for them to play on; laughed and joked with them; climbed the rope swing and challenged each of them to reach the top.  He loved to teach them to work with their hands, building things, and taught them how to work on everything from automobiles to tractors. He always created a fun learning experience for is children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  Phillip was known by many nicknames throughout his life; “Worm,” “Indian Outlaw”, and Wood Butcher” or “Butcher” for short. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Frances Coleen Johnson Billiot; father, Jessie Billiot; brother, Conan Roux; stepfather, William Roux.

Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Rindy Myers, Dinah Leger, and Phil Billiot, II; mother, Emilie Meyers; brothers, Russel Billiot (Cathy), and Raymond Billiot (Meryl); grandchildren, Fallon Evans, Myla Billiot, Landon Evans, Farrah Billiot, and William Leger; and great-grandchildren, Aspen Evans, and Ezra Guidry.

Honoring Phillip’s wishes, the family will not have any public services and cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Robison Funeral Home of Sulphur.  In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to help with medical and final expenses.  Words of comfort and memories may be shared with the family at www.robisonfuneralhome.net.
