Philmer Joseph Johnson, Jr. passed away on January 2, 2017 surrounded by his family.

 

Phil was born on September 21, 1955 to Philmer Johnson, Sr. and Dorothy Seawright. Phil moved to Westlake in 1965, and this is where he would raise his family with Paula Johnson, his best friend and loving wife of 37 years. Phil was an avid fan of the Westlake Rams, New Orleans Saints, and LSU Tigers. He was a longtime member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church and was awarded a Medal for Devoted Service by Bishop Speyer. Phil was active in his community; he coached recreation sports, served on city committees, was a member of the WHS Band Boosters, Knights of Columbus, WHS Diamond Club, and served as president of the Lake Area Ulster Project. Phil will be remembered most by the love he showed his family. Phil is survived by wife Paula; sons, Gary Johnson and wife Brandy and Philmer Joseph Johnson, III (Joe) and wife Megan; daughters, Sherry Dattola, Angela, Catherine, and Victoria Johnson; grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephen, Aime, Tyler, Tristen, Mya, Blaan, Xane, Owen, Kaleb, Katie, Justin, Kiley, Dylan, Collin, and Lilly; and four great grand-children; siblings, Pamela and Nasser Mansuri, Jack and Judy Del Barto, Caro and Diane Del Barto, and Todd Johnson and Linda Clary; step-brothers, Donald Arnaud and Joseph Arnaud; mother-in-law, Annette Trahan; and step-mother, Hazel Johnson, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and countless aunts and uncles.

 

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Fred Reed will officiate. Burial will follow in Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
