Pierre “Boo” Fontenot, Jr., 92, of Lake Charles entered into Heaven at 12:19 PM on Saturday, November 18, 2017 in a war veteran’s home in Jennings.
Mr. Fontenot was born on July 15, 1925 in Eunice, LA and had lived in Lake Charles since 1947 before moving to Jennings. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged having been the recipient of many medals and awards. Mr. Fontenot retired from the City of Lake Charles as a bus driver. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.
He enjoyed spending his free time gardening.
Those left to cherish his memory are a son, James Fontenot (Danna) of Lake Charles; daughters, Mary Berdine Fontenot (Rodney) of Ville Platte and Rosa Angela Gray (Richard) of Lake Charles; four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria A. Fontenot; his parents, Inez and Pierre Fontenot, Sr.; and siblings, Lester Fontenot, Ira Fontenot, and Jean Molitor.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. The Rev. Marcus Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at 10:30 AM.
