Pierre Lunsford Deville, 88, of Moss Bluff, LA, died at 3:32 AM on Thursday, March 18, 2021 in a local hospital.
Mr. Deville was born January 11, 1933 in Turkey Creek, LA and attended Pine Prairie High School, where he excelled at track. He served his country in the U.S. Army for twenty years, retiring as a First Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne. During his military career, he served twice in Vietnam. In 1971, he retired to the Westlake/ Moss Bluff area. For over twenty years, he worked for PPG, where he retired as a carpenter. Mr. Deville was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff. He was a master carpenter and enjoyed building houses with his son Brett. Mr. Deville will be remembered for his love of fishing, a hard worker, and a wonderful family man.
Mr. Deville is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Dorothy “Dot” Deville; son, Brett Deville and wife Wanda of Westlake, LA; daughters, Sheila Carruth and husband Harry of Sulphur, LA and Lisa Uribe of Grand Rapids, MI; uncle, Roger Morein of Mamou, LA; grandchildren, Natasha Coleman and husband Keith, Shannon Henry and husband Barret, Thomas “Trey” Bourgeois, III and wife Mallory, Alex Uribe; nine great-grandchildren; and bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Annie Deville; and sisters, Mary Fontenot and Annie Belle Deville.
His funeral service will be at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 with visitation from 9:30 to 11:30 at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Steve and Phillip Wilson will officiate. Burial with military honors will be at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Jennings.
