Porter John Davis, 87, of Lake Charles, died Sunday in a local care center.
Mr. Davis was a native of Port Arthur, Texas, although he considered Stuggart, Arkansas his second home. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Groves, Texas. He received a Bachelor’s Degree at Oklahoma A & M ( Oklahoma State) and also received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at the University of Arkansas.
Mr. Davis honorably served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. Mr. Davis spent his working life with Johns Manville as a sales representative.
Mr. Davis loved spending time with his family and friends at his camp at Toledo Bend. He had a great passion for his vegetable garden, especially his tomatoes. He loved to share the bounty with his family and friends.
Preceding Mr. Davis in death are his parents, James Robert and Mary Ira Davis and a brother, James C. Davis. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 63 years, Linda D. Davis; daughters, Catherine Thomas (Bobby) and Melissa Sonnier (Gary); grandchildren, Matt Thomas (Natalie), Michael Sonnier and Kelli Sonnier; great grandchildren, Julia Thomas and James Thomas.
Visitation will be on Tuesday May 9, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and will resume on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Roger Templeton will officiate. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Park.
