Ralph Joseph Prejean Jr.

October 3, 1957 — December 17, 2016

Ralph Joseph Prejean, Jr., 59, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 in a local healthcare facility.

Mr. Prejean was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Barbe High School and attended McNeese State University. During his younger years he worked as an Office Manager for Managan Carroll Building Materials where he developed his interest and talent in carpentry and building. He currently worked as an Operations Supervisor, having worked thirty years for Axiall Corporation, formerly, Georgia Gulf and Vista Chemical. Mr. Prejean was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing and cooking for family and friends. His specialty was seafood gumbo and grilled steaks made “special” for each one of the guys at work. He was a man of Catholic faith. Ralph will be remembered as an independent man who always put others before himself.

He leaves to honor his memory, his wife, Shaunteal Blommers Prejean of Lake Charles; son, Brady Joseph Prejean of Lake Charles; four brothers, Gary P. Prejean (Theresa) and Glen A. Prejean (Lisa) of Lake Charles, Jon A. Prejean (Denise) of Katy, TX and Danny P. Prejean (Nanette) of Lake Charles and cousins nieces and nephews and great nieces and great-nephews. He also leaves a second family of friends at work.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Joseph Prejean, Sr. and Mary Alvinette Barrios Prejean.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Harold Nixon will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Monday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Tuesday will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.

The family of Mr. Prejean wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Peter Karam, Dr. Michael Bergeron, Dr. David Chang and Dr. Arthur Primeaux and the nurses and staff of Memorial Specialty Hospital and Harbor Hospice for their excellence in care and compassion.
