It is with great sadness that Ralph Edward Midkiff, born on May 9, 1956, in Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on September 19, 2025, in Moss Bluff, Louisiana. He was 69 years old.
Ralph’s life was rooted deeply in the values of humility, kindness, and quiet strength. Those fortunate enough to know him often described him as the most humble and caring person they had ever met—qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Ralph was a Iowa High School graduate, a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). A 37-year service member of Entergy where he was a control room operator. Ralph was a overall well-rounded sportsman, he had earned the privilege of fishing in Bassmasters, where he knew great success and enjoyment. Besides Ralph being an avid sportsman and fishing in Bassmasters tournaments, one of his most prestigious titles was that he was a fisher of men.
A man of simple pleasures and deep passions, Ralph found joy in the outdoors and the camaraderie it brought. He loved hunting and fishing—activities that connected him to nature and offered moments of peace and reflection. His culinary skills were well known among family and friends; cooking was not just a hobby but a way he expressed love. Football Sundays were sacred in Ralph’s home, where he cheered with enthusiasm and shared the excitement with those around him.
He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Kathy, his mother, Elizabeth, sister, Malinda, and niece Hannah. Ralph also held a special place in the hearts of his grandchildren: Bianca, and Sierra Honeycutt, Jedda, and Zander Breaux. Ralph will be also remembered by his very dear friend, Tosha Leonard. Ralph was also a very passionate animal lover and he is also missed by man's best friend, Honey (French Yorkie), with Ralph in his final moments of this world before God called Ralph home to eternal life in heaven.
Ralph was a devout man of God, who had strong faith. He is proceeded in death by his father Melvin and his loving Aunt Joyce Midkiff, his long-time best friend who went on countless duck hunts with him, Ziva (black Labrador) and his (Pomeranian) Montez.
Ralph’s presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the memories shared by his family and friends—the laughter around a campfire, the warmth of a home-cooked meal, or the quiet wisdom he offered without asking for anything in return.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life lived with grace and generosity. A Viewing will be held at Johnson Funeral Home Moss Bluff, 2171 US Hwy 171on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 03:00 PM to 07:00 PM with a funeral service at 6pm.
