Ralph Newman, Jr.

Ralph Newman, Jr., 59, passed away at his residence on Thursday, January 3, 2019.

He was born on August 4, 1959 to Ralph Robert Newman, Sr. and Jean Harrison Newman in Big Spring, TX. He will be remembered as an easy-going, selfless and generous man who loved his family. He was loyal and honest. He worked for many years for ERA Helicopters doing search and rescue and firefighting work, as well as, maintenance on the helicopters before retiring. He enjoyed remote controlled helicopters in his spare time.   

He is survived by his daughters, Danna Wilson and Trudy Wilson; grandchildren, Brooke Bertram, Bradley Bertram, Misti Monroe, Elizabeth Monroe, Ben Monroe, Jr., and Barrett Bertram; mother, Jean Tidwell; sister, Bobbi Fryer (Melvin); and numerous brothers and sisters in-law and nieces and nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Catha Fontenot Newman; father, Ralph Newman, Sr.; sister, Ginny Newman Crawford; stepfather, Russell Tidwell; and stepsister, Anita Meyers.

His funeral service will be held on at 11 AM on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. The Rev. Glenn George will officiate. Burial will follow the service in New Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Sunday from 4 PM until 8 PM and will continue on Monday from 10 AM until the start of the service.
