Randall Ray Soileau

Randall Ray Soileau, 68, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 7:19 PM on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in his residence.

Mr. Soileau was born September 8, 1947 in Mamou, LA, graduated from Augsburg American High School in Germany, and has lived in Lake Charles since 1967. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967 and worked in Military Intelligence. He attended Northeastern University and graduated from McNeese State University with his Bachelor of Arts in History. While at McNeese, he was a ROTC and a member of the Blue Key Honor Fraternity. Mr. Soileau worked as a sports writer for the Lake Charles American Press for a number of years, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2007 after over thirty years of service. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had a passion for sports; he umpired baseball games, refereed football games and kept stats for McNeese sports information for many years. Mr. Soileau also enjoyed hunting and was a member of Eljay Foundation for Parkinson Syndrome Awareness.

Mr. Soileau is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Barbara Chaisson Soileau; sons, Scott Soileau and Tommy Soileau; mother, Thelma Soileau; granddaughter, Kat Soileau, all of Lake Charles; sisters, Brenda Gail Soileau of Fresno, TX and Sheryl Soileau Milanowski and husband Mike of Moss Bluff; brother, Gary Lee Soileau and wife Lola of Bartlett, TN; nephews, Joey Soileau and wife Katie of Jennings, LA, Matt Milanowski of Corpus Christi, TX, Chris Milanowski of Moss Bluff, and Tyler Milanowski of Moss Bluff; and niece, Melissa McDonald and husband Mike of Missouri City, TX.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Soileau and brother, Joseph Ted Soileau.

His funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Pine Island, LA. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:40 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers for the service will be Joey Soileau, Chris Milanowski, Kat Soileau, Tyler Milanowski, Darrell Chaisson and Roger Chaisson. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Soileau, Scott Soileau, Tommy Soileau, Matt Milanowski, James Israel, Jack Christ and Terry LeJune.
