Raphael Jones Aymond, 88, of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Ray was born on September 10, 1937, and was a long-time resident of Lake Charles. He was born in Eunice, LA where he grew up with his immediate and extended family.

He was a proud member of the Carpenter’s Local 953. Ray and his beloved wife, Lou Anna Aymond, were avid outdoors people, spending many weekends camping with friends and family across the State of Louisiana. He was a man’s man, provider, protector, and hard-worker until his last day.

Ray loved sharing his history and past experiences. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with quiet strength and an unwavering love that was shown more through his actions than his words.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Lou Anna Aymond, his parents, Norris Aymond and Ollie Guillory Aymond; his daughter, Stefnia Aymond Vizinat (Johnny); his siblings, Morris Aymond, Herbert Aymond, Shirley Aymond, Ramona Aymond; his grandchildren, Dagon Aymond McCauley; his great-grandchildren, Austin Vidrine, and Emery McGlone.

He leaves to honor and cherish his memory, his children, Patrick Aymond (Tina), Rachel Aymond Williamson (James); his grandchildren, Johnny McDonald, Jacob Vizinat, Coralie Vidrine, Jamie Williamson, Matthew Williamson, Shana Faulk, Amanda Aymond Perry, Justin Aymond, Taylor Aymond, Michael Hebert, Joseph Lavergne, Amanda McBride, Joshua Lavergne; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; and his siblings, Patsy Fontenot, Nora Mitchell, Frances Ortego, and Linda Fruge.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM, Saturday, August 15, 2026 in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake Street. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
