Our hearts are heavy today, October 20, 2025, as we mourn a peaceful passing of our Dad/Pop at the young age of 92. At the same time, we find great comfort knowing he and Mom are reunited in heaven.
Ray Floyd Lavergne was born June 4, 1933, to Floyd Lavergne and Bernice Quibodeaux Lavergne Daigle in Mermentau, LA. Ray was the oldest of five children. He was a hard worker, having to go to work at a young age to help his mother take care of his siblings, when his father was severely injured in an oil field accident. Moving to Sulphur at a young age he lived all the rest of his life here.
Dad met Mom in 1951. They married in 1952 a St. Margaret Catholic Church and were married 67 years before her passing.
Ray was a life-long member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council and Financial Council in years past.
Dad worked in the lumber business most of his life until he had the opportunity to go to work for Hercules, now known as Lyondell. He worked there until his retirement after 25 years.
Dad’s greatest joy were his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved them all beyond measure.
Preceded in death by his wife Shirley, his parents and three siblings, Darius Lavergne, Betty Whetnall and Ethel Moody.
Those left to cherish his memory are his youngest brother, Ralay Lavergne, along with his children, Katie Baldasarri and husband Tom, Dennis Lavergne and wife Deb, Christine LeMoine and husband Paul, Ted Lavergne and wife Tara.
Grandchildren, Jaime Garza (Eric), Erin Schott (Joe), Denerae Lavergne, Tonie’ Smith (Jonathan), Krista LeMoine (Harris Nghiem), Josh LeMoine, Cole Lavergne, Will Lavergne (Maddie).
Great grandchildren, Jocelynn, Eli, Ethan, Dax, Hadley Kate, Wyatt, Cooper and Myles as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Our family would like to give special thanks to Brighton Bridge Hospice for their caring and compassionate care of our Dad.
