Lake Charles - Ray Taylor, born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on June 15, 1957, son of the late James Horace Taylor and Helen Virginia (Davis) Taylor Harper, passed away April 2, 2021, at the age of 63.
Ray lived in Lake Charles for 26 years and moved here from Wisner, LA in 1995.
Ray was a friend to all and would give anything he had to anyone in need. He was especially known for finding people who had fallen upon hard times and giving them words of encouragement and a place to stay. Ray was a dreamer and loved to collect “junk.” He was most proud of his children and grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to tell them he loved them.
He is preceded in death by his parents and, brother, Jerome Taylor.
Ray is survived by his wife, Margaret “Mickey” Taylor; sons, Teryl Ray Taylor (Laura) of Iowa and
Jon Trace Taylor of Bell City; sisters, Debra Taylor of Natchez; Shannon Hayes (Shawn) of Baton Rouge; brothers, Robert Taylor of Jonesville; Monty Taylor (Fran) of Franklin; Prentice Taylor (Kathy) of New Orleans; Wayne Taylor; and 3 grandchildren, Maddux, Paisley & Molly.
Funeral services will be held in Livingway Pentecostal Church under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 4 p.m. with the Rev. CR Nugent; Rev. Lance Stockman; and Rev. Brent Keating officiating. Burial will be in Oakley Cemetery in Gilbert, LA Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 12 p.m. Visitation will begin in the church on Tuesday from 12 p.m. until the time of service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
