Rayward Sonnier, born in Jennings on October 31, 1958, son of the late Philip and Laura (Cormier) Sonnier, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the age of sixty-five.
Rayward retired from the oilfield and was of the Catholic faith. He was a proud member of the Welsh High School band booster. Rayward enjoyed hunting, fishing, shrimping, riding his motorcycle, and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lena Sonnier; children, Shannon Thibodeaux (Krystal), Tommy Sonnier, Thelma January; stepchildren, Danny Richard (Yvette), James Richard, Cathy Richard, Josh Richard, Kimberly Richard; sister, Rebecca Sonnier; twenty grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Rayward is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lester Sonnier; God-child, Philip Duhon; son-in-law, Gregory January.
A gathering of friends and family will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa, on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Cremation will follow the gathering under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
