Richard Douglas McCombs, 80 passed away in a local hospital on Saturday, December 29, 2018.
He was raised in Pineville, Louisiana until moving to Lake Charles before the 9th grade. In Lake Charles, he reunited with a childhood friend who introduced him to his future wife, Marylin. Richard was the district manager for several Lake Charles and Lafayette convenience stores before partnering with Marylin to own Beltone/Audibel Hearing Center. He enjoyed being outdoors duck hunting with his brother Wade and keeping his yard clean. Richard loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren attending every ball game, band concert, dance recital and graduation. He was a member of Gateway Church of God in Moss Bluff and his kind spirit will be greatly missed by so many.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marilyn McCombs; children, Kristi McCombs Rials (Randal), Kathy McCombs Bihm; grandchildren, Richard Rials (Tarrah), Robin Rials, Katelin Rials, Hunter Bihm and Kamryn Bihm; great grandchildren, Jenna Rials, Jude Rials, Brandi Simmons, Caroline Widgeon, Randi Mulvihill, Anna Grace Mulvihill and Jackson Mulvihill and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Gordie Watson McCombs; great grandson, Justin Rials and siblings, Josie Nell Antley, Cliff McCombs, Becky Humphrey and Wade McCombs.
His funeral service will be at 1 PM on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. The Rev. Richard Rials and the Rev. Francis LaRocque will officiate. Burial will follow the service in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 AM until the start of the service.
