Richard Lynn Lopez, 74, of Westlake, LA, died at 5:17 PM on Monday, March 1, 2021 in his residence.
Born November 1, 1946, Mr. Lopez moved to Carlyss, LA at a young age and graduated from Sulphur High School. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp for four years, serving one of those years in Vietnam. He retired in 2008 after many years from Ohmstede Industrial Services in Sulphur. Mr. Lopez was very active with the Veteran’s Administration and was a member of the Boilermaker’s Union and the Vietnam Veterans of America. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, loved everything with Indian history and was a dedicated father and grandfather.
Mr. Lopez is survived by his daughter, Melissa McGinnis; brother, David Lopez; sister, Carol Willis and husband A.J.; grandchildren, Alexis Williams and Devyn McGinnis; great-grandson, Ayden Williams; and his dearest friend, Shrimper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Elizabeth Lopez; and brothers, Terry and Daniel Lopez.
A gathering of family members and friends will be at Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Friends and family are asked to share memories beginning at 3:00 PM.
