Richard James “Dick” Mott September 9, 1945 – March 28, 2026

Richard James “Dick” Mott, of Orange, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 28, 2026, at the age of 80. Dick was born on September 9, 1945, in Basile, Louisiana, to Dewey Mott and Amedia Bertrand Mott, who preceded him in death.

He was a 1964 graduate of LaGrange High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and later studied business administration at McNeese State University. Later in life, he earned an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from ITT Technical Institute in Austin, Texas. Dick spent most of his career in sales and sales management, where he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of his colleagues.

He had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. In his later years, he often said he had traded his rifle for a camera, choosing instead to enjoy and capture the beauty of nature while he and Judy traveled the “retirement roads” in their RV, “Liberty Belle”.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Tolin Mott, with whom he shared nearly 59 years of marriage; his son, Mike Mott and wife April; his daughter, Michelle Mott-Unterzuber; his sister, Dora Mott Seeman; and his three grandsons, Logan Unterzuber, Colby Mott, and Ben Mott.

A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on April 1, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with a short service at 4:00 PM. At a later date, Dick will be interred during a private service at Liberty Cemetery in Elton, Louisiana.

He found peace in the outdoors and left behind a lifetime of memories rooted in that joy. The memories we shared there will remain with us forever.
