Robert "Bobby" Bertrand

June 29, 1939 — January 15, 2025

Robert “Bobby” Bertrand, born in Lake Charles on June 29, 1939, son of the late Senua and Avia Primeaux Bertrand, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the age of eighty-five.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Nell Jean Bertrand, Ada Mae Brady, Pvt. Joseph Jr. Bertrand, Gladys Kelley, Billy Bertrand and Ronnie Bertrand. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Inda Fruge Bertrand; his three sons, Paul (Lorraine), Anthony (Patricia), Daniel (Shannon); one grandson Joseph (Teia); two step-grandsons, Ethan (fiancé Cassie) and Lucas (Kali); two great grandchildren Brawklin and Brinyella; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Bobby was a 1957 Bell City High School graduate and later attended McNeese State University pursuing a degree in mathematics, classified as a Junior. Bobby worked for PPG for many years. As an employee he survived an industrial accident that occurred in December 1971 at age 32 in which he suffered severe chlorine chemical burns. In later years he was employed by, and retired from, Northrop Grumman.

He enjoyed cattle, gardening, carpentry, singing and playing his 1963 Gibson guitar, and loved John Deere tractors. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bell City.

Private funeral services were held at Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Saturday, January 18, 2025 with Father Roland Vaughn. Pallbearers were Paul Bertrand, Anthony Bertrand, Daniel Bertrand, Richard Bertrand and Joseph Bertrand. Burial followed at Derouen Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank all doctors, nurses and medical staff for the kindness and care given at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, St. Patrick Hospital and Harbor Hospice Care. The family appreciated the condolences from friends, family and community.
